Basic Little League Rules are to be followed in the Official Little League Baseball rulebook, with the addition or outlining of the following local rules, which will also be followed. NOTE: All pitching rules are fully described in the OLLB rulebook.
1)
Every player must play a minimum of ½ (half) of the
game on defense (3 innings for 6 innings). There may be unlimited re-entry of
defensive players, except to pitchers and catchers.
2)
Team batting orders shall include all players
present. Each team shall bat in its half of the inning until 3 outs or 5
runs are scored excluding the last inning (Inning # 6 is unlimited).
Every player is in the batting lineup the entire game. A player that shows up
late must bat in the last spot of the line-up.
3)
Umpiring shall be the responsibility of the umpire
assigned to the game. In the event that an umpire is unavailable, the defensive
team manager may call strikes/balls from behind pitcher.
4)
There must be a bench coach at all times at the
bench.
5)
Two coaches are
allowed on the playing field for the offensive team at any time, to coach at 1B
or 3B provided that there is at all times a bench coach.
6)
If a player
in uniform is coaching a base he/she must be wearing a helmet.
7)
Players and coaches are forbidden to throw
equipment, argue with the umpire, swear, or use any other inappropriate
behavior. Any player ejected from a game will not be allowed to play in the
next game that player attends. The player must sit on the bench in full uniform
during that game in order to be eligible to play in the next game. Any manager, coach, parent or grandparent or
visiting spectator ejected from a game will be suspended for the next
game and therefore not allowed to attend that game. If the same coach or parent
is ejected a second time in that same year, that person will no longer be
able to participate in

All evening games begin at 6:00 PM. A team must be
able to field 9 players at game time or the game is a forfeit (10 minute
gentlemen’s agreement to 6:10). Then a scrimmage is encouraged so that the
players get to play baseball.
9)
Team defensively shall include 9 players:
a)
Standard infield includes: pitcher, catcher, 1B,
2B, SS, 3B. No more than that.
b)
3
players in the outfield must remain at least 20 feet back from the infield.
c)
No defensive players will be allowed to stand on
bases or in the baseline. Obstruction
rules will be strictly enforced.
10)
If after 4 innings (3½ innings if home team is
ahead), if one team has a lead of 10 runs or
more, the manager of the
losing team shall concede. If time permits mix the teams up and have FUN.
11)
No metal spikes/cleats may be worn. No jewelry. No
casts may be worn.
12)
No alcoholic beverages or smoking allowed
on or near the playing fields or parking lots.
13)
Bases shall be the official Little League distance
of 60 feet apart. The pitching rubber will
be 46 feet from home
plate.
14)
Bats must be completely undamaged and have the
writing “Little League Approved”.
15)
Catchers
must have a dangling throat guard on all masks.
16)
The batter, all runners and the pitcher warming
up must ALWAYS wear batting helmets.
17)
No on-deck hitters and no batboys/batgirls allowed. NO
SWINGING! Bench warning first time and then possible ejection.
18)
A coin flip shall determine the home team 30
minutes before game time. The team that travels the farthest shall call it in
the air. The home team then shall take the First Base bench.
19)
Only
ballplayers can warm up the pitchers, NO ADULTS. The player catching the pitcher must have a
catcher’s glove and catchers mask with dangling throat guard.
20)
There are NO headfirst slides allowed. Runner is called
out if sliding head first.
21)
Players MUST AVOID CONTACT when there is a play at
a base that the runner is going to.
The runner will be called
out if the runner violates these rules and the umpire may toss player from
the game if malicious contact occurs.
22)
A catcher may block the plate or baseline only if
there is a play at the plate and/or the
catcher has the ball.
23)
The infield fly rule is in affect. Ask the umpire
before the game about the rule!
24)
Runners may steal bases after the pitched ball
crosses the BATTER. Regular baseball.
25)
Managers are required to have their team at the
game with an appointed coach or
coaches.
26)
Managers may not, cannot and will not cancel a
scheduled game because they themselves
are unable to attend the
game. Games may ONLY be called by the Directors Karl Gielenfeldt, Rob
Bounds or Bill Harnett, FLL or lastly the umpire. Information will be posted
daily at www.greecelittleleague.org
for weather/field conditions.
27)
If a game has been cancelled and you cannot field a
team for a make up date, it’s a forfeit.
